Kristy Cates, Actor/Singer/Voiceover/Educator

Kristy Cates began her Broadway career in the original cast of Wicked, performing in the ensemble and understudying the role of Elphaba, originated by Idina Menzel. Kristy later took on the role herself, performing as Elphaba on Broadway, in the First National Tour, and in the Chicago production with the amazing Stacie Morgain Lewis. Her additional Broadway credits include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Grandma Josephine) and Finding Neverland (Ms. Bassett) Kristy has appeared at some of the world’s most renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and has headlined in numerous Off-Broadway and regional productions. Her international performances span cities such as Milan, Paris, Budapest, Chicago, and New York. On screen, she recently guest starred as Dr. Shannon Long on Law & Order: SVU and is a featured character in an upcoming, highly anticipated video game. As a voiceover artist, Kristy’s voice has been featured in major campaigns for Skyrizi, Almay, Subway, and more. A passionate educator, Kristy currently serves as the Chair of the College of Performing Arts College at the New York Film Academy. In addition to her artistic career and academic leadership, Kristy is a proud mother to her 11-year-old daughter, Gracie, and makes her home in New York City.
